Quickfact

The computer game "Navigate the Shenandoah" in the museum is fast becoming a favorite of students visiting the Museum.

The Museum of the Shenandoah Valley offers a wonderful and entertaining educational opportunity that encompasses several fields of learning, including history, social studies, fine and decorative arts, and science. Many Virginia Standards of Learning have been identified for these fields.

The museum also participates in Virginia Time Travelers for students K through 12, a program of the Virginia Association of Museums. The MSV education staff will work with you to plan the perfect field trip for your class. Museum facilities to accommodate your school group include a Learning Center with audio-visual equipment and tables and chairs. You may also arrange for special docent tours for your class or classes. To receive an informational packet that identifies how the museum’s exhibitions comply with the Virginia Standards of Leaning and provides more detailed information about the museum’s facilities, contact Museum Education Coordinator Deborah Hilty, 540-662-1473, Extension 224.
